TODDLER PROGRAMS

Ketantanim

little ones

15mo-2yrs

HOW LEARNING HAPPENS Our Ketantanim toddler nursery is for children age 15 months and older and focuses on the importance of relationships for young children. The Ketantanim room is set up to encourage play and exploration. Our small class size and low ratio of four children to one teacher allows the children to get the personalized attention that is so critical at this age.

LEARN THROUGH PLAY During indoor exploration time the teacher will engage and interact with the children; encourage physical development and coordination with individual and group activities; help develop the large muscles of the body which are important for climbing and walking; and encourage the children to interact socially through play, using language and solving problems using materials and equipment that are age appropriate.

SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL An environment that focuses on play and exploration sets a strong foundation for life by supporting exchanges with friends, giving the children freedom and safety to move and explore, and help them develop meaningful relationships.

Gan

garden

2yrs

HOW LEARNING HAPPENS For many Gan children, this is their first school experience. Curriculum projects are chosen to help children explore and understand the world around them. Using hands-on, tactile and sensory experiences, we weave literacy, math, science, and physical development standards into our daily explorations. Gan children take pride in their newfound independence, special friendships, and discovery of their world.

OUR CURRICULUM Singing, stories, and lots of open ended art experiences help children understand core literacy, science, and math concepts. As their verbal skills blossom, we encourage the children to ask questions and introduce new vocabulary

SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL Everything is new at this age! We work on transitions since it is not always easy to say goodbye. We learn about sharing and love making new friends.

JUDAICS Continuing the hands-on approach to activities, Judaics include Challah baking, Hebrew songs, as well as other Jewish holiday activities.

PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS

Gimmel

threes

3yrs

HOW LEARNING HAPPENS The Gimmel class focuses on the unique needs of three years olds. Long term curriculum projects are chosen based on the interests of the children. Using the visual arts, we weave literacy, math, science and physical development standards into our daily explorations. Gimmel children take pride in their beautiful art work, ability to do things on their own, and blossoming relationships.

OUR CURRICULUM We focus on the children’s emerging interest in letters and number as their cognitive development expands. They begin to remember parts of a story, start to identify letters in their names and participate in scientific discovery by observing and asking questions.

SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL Gimmel children are independent. Their strong verbal skills and favorite playmates tend to enhance dramatic play. We encourage cooperation and turn taking with our classmates.

JUDAICS We use a hands-on approach to Judaics as well as begin to introduce the Hebrew Alphabet. Long term special interest projects, a focus on mitzvos (good deeds) and the celebration of Jewish holidays round out our curriculum.

Teva

nature

3-5yrs

HOW LEARNING HAPPENS Our Teva program brings together the best of Europe’s Forest Schools coupled with the Reggio inspired approach. Children spend a large part of their day interacting with their classroom teacher and fellow students in our Natural Playscape. Interactive provocations foster inquiry based learning, scientific discovery, and school readiness in an authentic outdoor learning environment. Teva is the first fully outdoor nature classroom in Northern Nevada.

OUR CURRICULUM Teva students engage in all Early Childhood Educational domains within a natural environment. Students participate in an outdoor learning laboratory through science based inquiry and project based learning. Nature allows children to enjoy the freedom of space and gain resilience from the immersive experience of the outdoors.

SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL Teva is a mixed age setting that allows children to learn from a diverse group of friends. Children can attend for two years which gives them the opportunity to be both mentor and mentee and create strong relationships within their peer group.

JUDAICS Teva children participate in our hands on Judaics program with exposure to basic Hebrew language, holiday and Shabbat celebrations, challah baking, music, and movement.

Gesher

bridge

4-5yrs

HOW LEARNING HAPPENS Our Gesher Pre-K class is the bridge between preschool and elementary education. Gesher uses S.T.E.A.M. throughout curriculum projects that are based on the children’s interests. This helps increase children’s concentration and attention spans. We combine self initiated play and exploration, small group work as well as teacher directed activities for a well rounded day. The rich classroom environment is set up to maximize learning opportunities in all domains including math, literacy, science, and physical development.

OUR CURRICULUM Academics include formal literacy and math lessons, letter recognition, beginning sounds, critical thinking and scientific hypothesis forming.

SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL In the Gesher class we learn self-help skills, conflict resolution, taking ownership of our classroom, cleaning up after ourselves, and respecting others.

JUDAICS Our hands on Judaics program continues with recognition of the Hebrew Aleph Bet through art and games, as well as exposure to basic Hebrew language and Shabbat celebrations with challah baking, music, and movement.
